[12:59]<+camerongray> Hey BC
[13:08]<+camerongray> Whoops! ALMOST mucked up my order, read the "confirm your order page" as "your order is confirmed" then closed it
[13:09]<+camerongray> Bought one of these - http://www.ebuyer.com/363333-lenovo-thinkvision-lt1421-14-tn-led-lcd-monitor-t52deeu
[13:09]<+camerongray> Looks really handy!

[13:25]<@BC_Programming> oooh
[13:25]<@BC_Programming> it's like a picture frame but with an MCD
[13:25]<@BC_Programming> LCD*
[13:26]<+camerongray> lol, nope :P
[13:26]<+camerongray> Portable LCD monitor :D
[13:26]<+camerongray> Runs completely over USB
[13:27]<@BC_Programming> well I mean it's not a picture, but it's form is sort of like an picture frame with the little prop flap thing
[13:27]<+camerongray> Found myself in the lab today crawling around unhooking a DICE machine trying to use the monitor
[13:27]<+camerongray> Ahh, yeah
[13:27]<+camerongray> And once I was done i hooked the monitor back up to the DICE box and it threw a tantrum
[13:28]<+camerongray> So I had to reboot it which takes a good 15mins
[13:29]<+camerongray> There's also a hackathon next week so should come in handy for that
[13:32]<+camerongray> They have one of those "NEVER turn anything off" systems so they all die if you need to reboot
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> lol
[13:34]<@BC_Programming> I just wrote a program that sits in the tray and basically just acts like a start menu, but in heirarchal-menu form

[13:34]<@BC_Programming> It seemed like a good idea at the time
[13:34]<+camerongray> lol
[13:35]<@BC_Programming> if nothing else I've revealed that my Programs menu has way too much crap in it
[13:42]<+camerongray> lol

[13:54]<+camerongray> Why is Lenovo's website so dreadful!
[13:54]<@BC_Programming> no clue
[13:54]<+camerongray> I only want drivers and it keeps crashing :P
[13:55]<@BC_Programming> lol
[13:55]<+camerongray> I do like their "download cart" system
[13:56]<@BC_Programming> I've just discovered the official list of third-party MVP offers
[13:56]<@BC_Programming> it's... really long
[13:56]<@BC_Programming> apparently there is even a wordpress theme... may actually check that out
[13:57]<@BC_Programming> which reminds me I need to rework my main landing page
[13:57]<@BC_Programming> people keep telling me I need to redo it but I like it :(
[13:58]<@BC_Programming> ohh I can get Camtasia Studio and Snagit for free
[13:58]<+camerongray> Nice!
[13:58]<@BC_Programming> VMWare
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> Web Hosting!
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> "Complimentary Small Business Shared hosting plan for as long as you're an MVP. "
[14:00]<@BC_Programming> Advanced Installer I can get through it as well... that's odd I thought I checked for that
[14:00]<@BC_Programming> Ahhh that's why, in return I would need to write a post about the product
[14:01]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:01]<+camerongray> Could get decent web hosting :P
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> hmm... then the credits I have now would go towards the domain
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> BUT... if I lose my MVP in July then Poof
[14:02]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> so I think I'll stick with what I've got ATM :P
[14:02]<+camerongray> You really need new hosting :P
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> why do you say that
[14:03]<+camerongray> Byet make me sad :P
[14:03]<@BC_Programming> lol
[14:03]<@BC_Programming> I reviewed an Icon Editor I was given for free to review :P
[14:03]<+camerongray> nice!
[14:03]<@BC_Programming> I'm like one of those guys who get's stuff and reviews it
[14:03]<+camerongray> lol
[14:04]<+camerongray> Ever looked into a VPS? Can get them cheaper than your shared hosting!
[14:04]<@BC_Programming> it would have to wait until I have an income :P
[14:05]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, you have credits with byet :P
[14:05]<@BC_Programming> If I do I might end up setting up a dedicated
[14:05]<+camerongray> With Datashack :P
[14:05]<@BC_Programming> perhaps
[14:06]<@BC_Programming> probably a win server... just so I can fiddle around with ASP.NET more
[14:07]<+camerongray> Have fun with that :P
[14:07]<@BC_Programming> Did I mention that VS 2012 has like a built-in Package Manager
[14:07]<+camerongray> You have now :P
[14:07]<@BC_Programming> touche
[14:07] * KindOne (KindOne@mib-52E4B1A2.dynamic.ip.windstream.net) has joined #glitchpc
[14:07]<+camerongray> What I'd do is virtualise the server and stick multiple machines on it
[14:07]<@BC_Programming> that could work too
[14:08]<+camerongray> You could then have a windows box, a linux one plus others for testing stuff without breaking other things
[14:08]<@BC_Programming> but that's like... long term :P
[14:08]<+camerongray> I use "Proxmox VE" works really well
[14:08]<+camerongray> hehehe
[14:09]<+camerongray> Currently running 8 machines, running perfectly
[14:09]<@BC_Programming> this makes me regret not having money- I could get 30% off pretty much any tablet PC through the MVP program
[14:09]<+camerongray> Could probably fit one more before needing more RAM (Don't tell Patio) :P
[14:09] * Nat (natman97@mib-D760DC52.west.biz.rr.com) Quit (Quit: zzzZZZzzzZZzzZZZzz)
[14:09]<@BC_Programming> No you need to hae 64GB to run a server!
[14:09]<+camerongray> lol, he was the opposite
[14:09]<@BC_Programming> oh
[14:09]<+camerongray> Why does any server need 24gb RAM?
[14:10]<@BC_Programming> :/
[14:10]<+camerongray> You don't even need the 12 you have
[14:10]<@BC_Programming> because it's a server...
[14:10]<@BC_Programming> Well if you think of it this way
[14:10]<+camerongray> Then db gets involved
[14:10]<+camerongray> According to him, it was a "server"
[14:10]<+camerongray> And I "manage" it
[14:11]<@BC_Programming> Patio is a standard tech, and so is, presumably, db... but that's basically like somebody you pay to put lego together
[14:11]<+camerongray> lol yeah
[14:11]<+camerongray> They were making out that they were huge server admins
[14:11]<@BC_Programming> running/building/etc a server is more like dealing with mecanno or some other more advanced construction thing
[14:11]<@BC_Programming> and the problem is as "lego builders" they can't really fake that they've used mecanno
[14:12]<@BC_Programming> that was a terrible analogy
[14:12]<+camerongray> hehehe
[14:12]<+camerongray> DB was like "Oh, I have all these servers running roaming profiles for thousands of users, they only have 8gb each"
[14:12]<+camerongray> I was like& err& V-I-R-T-U-A-L-I-S-A-T-I-O-N
[14:12]<@BC_Programming> yeah it's not really one server, it's several, the RAM is getting split up
[14:13]<+camerongray> Plus, windows profiles don't need much
[14:13]<@BC_Programming> yeah not sure what he would be on about
[14:13]<@BC_Programming> Roaming profiles are through a Domain Controller, they use Disk space, not memory
[14:13]<+camerongray> Our box at work is 2gb and that also runs the internet connection, phone system, music streaming box (essential) and dev sites
[14:13]<+camerongray> Then they started talking to each other - "What does he use the server for?" "Probably video games"
[14:13] * FusRoDah (mulreay@D5A2007B.81C5AB88.D499061B.IP) has joined #glitchpc
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> I had to watch myself a few hours ago... they started to suggest Registry Cleaners again
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> and Driver programs...
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> "SlimDriver" one was called
[14:14]<+camerongray> bfghv bcv gbghnv
[14:14]<+camerongray> ~
[14:14]<+camerongray> lmn.bghvf bvghn bghvfn bfghnv bfghnv
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> agreed
[14:14]<+camerongray> That was my head hitting the keyboard
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> lol
[14:14]<@BC_Programming> the funny thing was I decided to experiment, ran that Driver program
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> it claims that they are a "Microsoft Certified Partner"
[14:15]<+camerongray> lol
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> Funny, then, how they don't show up on the MSCP listing
[14:15]<+camerongray> har!
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> yeah that was just the setup program... to be honest I stopped there, didn't want to install something like that on my computer
[14:15]<+camerongray> I also love how recently Patio keeps getting involved to tell people he doesn;t want to help
[14:15]<@BC_Programming> lol
[14:16]<@BC_Programming> I made the mistake of being on when nobody else was
[14:16]<+camerongray> ahh
[14:16]<@BC_Programming> fun trying to help three people at the same time
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> I managed to help two, the others had stupid problems that they wouldn't fully explain so couldn't be bothered
[14:17]<+camerongray> yeah
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> "My computer is broken"
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> Why thank you, that is totally enough information to work with there
[14:17]<+camerongray> hehehe
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> even the one I was helping was testing
[14:17]<@BC_Programming> "I tried that but it just showed an error"
[14:18]<+camerongray> Do you ever get to go to events being an MVP? My friend is a MS student partner and he's going down to London for stuff
[14:18]<@BC_Programming> then I have to ask them every time what the error/message was
[14:18]<@BC_Programming> cam: there is an MVP summit this month
[14:18]<+camerongray> Much to the dismay of the linux fanboys
[14:18]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:18]<@BC_Programming> I think it was Toronto? I've been getting loads of E-mail about it
[14:18]<@BC_Programming> can't afford it obviously, which is a shame
[14:18]<+camerongray> Yeah
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> http://www.2013mvpsummit.com/
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> oh it's in Redmond
[14:19]<@BC_Programming> maybe that's where it always is
[14:20]<+camerongray> I imagine so :P
[14:21]<@BC_Programming> Perhaps if I'm still an MVP next year I can go
[14:21]<+camerongray> yeah, hopefully
[14:21]<@BC_Programming> and if I am I better get another cool trophy
[14:21]<+camerongray> How does it work, do you need to be nominated again?
[14:21]<@BC_Programming> those who have the award are automatically nominated if I recall
[14:22]<+camerongray> Ahh, they just approve again?
[14:22]<@BC_Programming> yes
[14:23]<@BC_Programming> I wouldn't need to take a plane, pretty much just a hop across the Juan de Fueca strait to get the Seattle
[14:24]<@BC_Programming> to Seattle*
[14:24]<+camerongray> ahh, nice
[14:31]<FusRoDah> Hey people
[14:32]<+camerongray> hey Mulreay
[14:32]<@BC_Programming> http://bc-programming.com/blogs/ << Opinions plz
[14:32]<FusRoDah> hey camerongray
[14:33]<+camerongray> I quite like that
[14:33]<@BC_Programming> hmm the code blocks seem to be a bit large-fonted
[14:34]<FusRoDah> reading...
[14:34]<+camerongray> Yeah. they wrap a bit
[14:34]<@BC_Programming> I wanted opinions on the theme, not the post :P
[14:34]<FusRoDah> lol, reading anyway
[14:34]<@BC_Programming> heh k
[14:34]<+camerongray> Aww, Outlook won't let me use my @inf.ed.ac.uk email address, Now I have to use my boring @sms.ed.ac.uk one
[14:35]<+camerongray> They are both the same account but @inf looks better :P
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> heh
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> the blog definitely loads a LOT faster with this theme
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> but I did like the customized background for the other one
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> with the sideways source code
[14:36]<@BC_Programming> if I could align the left column with the left side of the page, I think that could work
[14:41]<@BC_Programming> haha! I worked CSS magic there
[14:41]<@BC_Programming> now to make the actual content stretch out to the right margin and I'm totally switching themes
[14:42]<@BC_Programming> well... technically I already switched, but I mean I won't switch back
[14:45]<FusRoDah> Looks good BC_Programming and I liked the post although not what you intended me to do
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> thx
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> still working on it... not really better than the old one but I can always switch randomly to confuse visitors
[14:46]<FusRoDah> Quick question though.. how did you get my Youtube channel to show in your widget? Would like to do the same to mine to show yours
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> that's a generic one, it shows the visitor's youtube iirc
[14:48]<FusRoDah> ahh

[14:48]<@BC_Programming> and for a sec I'm like "wtf why are they advertising my channel"
[14:49]<FusRoDah> lol, I had a feeling it may have been that it was just the sub button next to it made me think
[14:49]<FusRoDah> Mmm Just had a thought
[14:51]<FusRoDah> Nope won't work... just thought I could maybe add two of the same widgets and have your channel there but it doesn't seem to want to let me
[14:53]<@BC_Programming> Oh curse you wordpress... now it's on the right side but a giant empty spot in the middle
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> balls
[14:57]<@BC_Programming> CSS pisses me off
[14:57]<@BC_Programming> "it makes styling your pages easy"
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> well that depends, if your definition of easy also includes shoving olives in your butt until your breath smells like greek salad than yes
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> perhaps I will find the person who designed this theme and is forcing it to have a gigantic stupid white space and shove olives in their butt

[16:01]<@BC_Programming> wb
[16:01]<@Mulreay> thx
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> oh I should explain that thing with Skyrim
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> few days ago, installed Dragonborn DLC
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> got to the final boss... encountered this bug that made it impossible to kill'em
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> so I search it
[16:02]<@BC_Programming> turns out that the issue was that I installed the DLC before I patched it... and the only way to fix it would be to reinstall the DLC and start it's content over again
[16:02]<@Mulreay> wow
[16:03]<@BC_Programming> I would have never figured that out myself given what was happening
[16:03]<@BC_Programming> OTOH I didn't lose my character stats that I gained while I played through it so there is that, though any items I had from it vanished
[16:04]<@Mulreay> I had a bug with skyrim once where I walked into a cave with vampires and the such.. walked in threw a few fire spells about and gave my 'FusRoDah' battle cry and all the NPC's suddenly starting floating upwards and backwards until they clipped into the walls and disappeared. Was one of the highlights of my life
[16:05]<@BC_Programming> my save bugged out ages ago so now I have 0 time between shouts
[16:05]<@BC_Programming> which is actually pretty awesome
[16:06]<@Mulreay> heh yeah
[16:07]<@BC_Programming> things get hairy I just freeze everybody with Ice form and relax
[16:07]<@BC_Programming> though if things are going really bad I switch to my bow or crossbow since my archery is lvl 100 yay
[16:08]<@BC_Programming> lvl 52 atm iirc
[16:13]<@Mulreay> I always used the 'time slow thingy' ability when fighting bosses.. been a while since I played
[16:13]<@BC_Programming> not really used that one tbh
[16:14]<@BC_Programming> mostly just unrelenting force since it has all three words of power and sending enemies all over the place is funny
[16:14]<@BC_Programming> or watching trolls fall hundreds of feet
[16:14]<@Mulreay> I would re-buy the game but 340hrs and I have all the trophies suggests I should give it up especially when there is no DLC for the PS3
[16:15]<@BC_Programming> Dragonborn is on the PS3
[16:15]<@Mulreay> Has it finally come out?
[16:15]<@BC_Programming> allegedly
[16:15]<@BC_Programming> http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/02/12/first-ps3-skyrim-dlc-dragonborn-lands-today/
[16:15]<@Mulreay> cool, then maybe I will get it again
[16:16]<@BC_Programming> What do you mean by re-buy though... why do you have to buy it again
[16:16]<@Mulreay> I part-ex'd the game for another..
[16:17]<@Mulreay> Hard copy
[16:17]<@BC_Programming> traded?
[16:17]<@Mulreay> yeah
[16:17]<@BC_Programming> ahh gotcha
[16:18]<@BC_Programming> of course I have all the DLCs now, and naturally I TOTALLY paid for them all and didn't just download them...
[16:18]<@BC_Programming> OK I admit it you can stop badgering me
[16:19]<@Mulreay> heh
[16:19]<@BC_Programming> I've also been playing Daggerfall and Morrowwind
[16:19]<@BC_Programming> more of the former for some reason
[16:20]<@BC_Programming> a bit less guidance though
[16:20]<@Mulreay> Also i got a little too bad ass.. I could stand infront of a dragon doing it's best to annoy me and eat my dinner and then come back to it.. hit him a couple of times and it's all over. Even Lydia (had here from the start) had badass weapons and dragon scale armour.. became a little too easy
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> what level were you
[16:21]<@Mulreay> Erm... one sec will check on the PS3 if it will tell me

[16:26]<@BC_Programming> I guess it would if I had it legit, through steam and all that
[16:26]<@BC_Programming> though apparently I have killed a little over 3000 things
[16:26]<@Mulreay> Check your save file
[16:26]<@BC_Programming> shouted 2+ thousand times
[16:26]<@Mulreay> lol
[16:27]<@Mulreay> £27.99 for a pre-owned Skyrim game.. get the feck outa here
[16:27]<@BC_Programming> found it
[16:27]<@BC_Programming> 104 hours 27 minutes
[16:28]<@BC_Programming> oh what the heck... it says Dragonbone BattleAxe is my favourite weapon
[16:29]<@Mulreay> Ahh the infamous 'Dragonbone'
[16:29]<@BC_Programming> I've only started using it yesterday
[16:29]<@Mulreay> Many a wench has been scared of the 'Dragonbone'
[16:29]<@BC_Programming> favourite should totally still be Mace of Molag Bal
[16:29]<@Mulreay> I have that
[16:30]<@Mulreay> Just let him torcher that guy
[16:30]<@BC_Programming> I found Dragonbone armour in a chest practically right after I installed Dawnguard
[16:31]<@BC_Programming> oh right I'm a werewolf... always seem to forget that
[16:31]<@Mulreay> I have a full suite of that other stuff.. erm that thingy name.. I forget.. oh Daidric I think.. FAR better.. Lydia has full dragon scale armour though
[16:31]<@Mulreay> I'm a werewolf as well
[16:31]<@Mulreay> Though i was cured
[16:31]<@BC_Programming> I think it's like daedric->Dragon Scale->Dragon Bone but I'm not sure
[16:32]<@BC_Programming> not sure who would have left it in the chest but best not to think about that
[16:32]<@Mulreay> In the game it says dragon is better but if you read the stats Daedric is much better plus you look a complete bad ass in it
[16:32]<@BC_Programming> did you improve it? That often does the job
[16:32]<@Mulreay> Of course
[16:33]<@Mulreay> It's all at the highest grade
[16:33]<@Mulreay> Plus I was weilding a Daedric hammer with some mad enchantments
[16:33]<@BC_Programming> It's weird watching youtube videos of skyrim
[16:33]<@BC_Programming> because everybody else seems to go with a dude
[16:35]<@Mulreay> I did
[16:35]<@BC_Programming> yeah see
[16:35]<@BC_Programming> I used a guy for most characters but when I started skyrim I decided
[16:35]<@BC_Programming> hey
[16:36]<@BC_Programming> wtf why not let's make a chick
[16:37]<@BC_Programming> of course now all the sound effects for attacking/shouts/taking damage etc I am familiar with are the female ones so most videos just sound weird
[16:38]<@BC_Programming> WULD NAH KEST
[16:47]<@Mulreay> heh
[16:50]<@Mulreay> BC_Programming can you name some 'big' names in the computer industry? Just humour me if you please
[16:51]<@Mulreay> Companies that is
[16:52]<@BC_Programming> Microsoft, Apple, Google... uhh
[16:52]<@BC_Programming> that's all I can think of... the obvious ones
[16:52]<@Mulreay> Yeah got them
[16:52]<@Mulreay> Is IBM still doing stuff/
[16:52]<@BC_Programming> yeah IBM is still around
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> heck if I know what they are doing though, heh
[16:53]<@Mulreay> heh indeed
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> trying to keep their head above water probably
[16:53]<@Mulreay> No doubt
[16:54]<@BC_Programming> Intel, Canon, Xerox, Cisco, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Oracle
[16:56]<@Mulreay> I had Intel and canon.. heard of Motorola obv but the rest never
[16:56]<@Mulreay> Oh cisco of course
[16:56]<@BC_Programming> AMD/NVidia
[16:56]<@BC_Programming> Matrox
[16:57]<@Mulreay> Do xerox have something to do with American photo copiers?
[16:57]<@BC_Programming> Gigabyte
[16:57]<@Mulreay> I have AMD/NVidia
[16:57]<@BC_Programming> Yes I believe that's how they started
[16:58]<@Mulreay> matrox?
[16:58]<@BC_Programming> they make Display Adapters
[16:59]<@Mulreay> k
[17:08]<@Mulreay> Can I ask you a hypothetical question in PM BC_Programming?
[17:18]<@BC_Programming> I guess so
[17:18]<@Mulreay> OK have to go and make dinner and get my ass to bed.. hopefully will be around tomorrow.. later
